Located on the ground floor of the Boundary Project in Shoreditch, Albion is a caff, a bakery and a small shop selling British food and drink. Its menu is based on typical British café food, nothing challenging or complicated, just straightforward hearty ingredients and recipes, from breakfast served throughout the day, to fish and chips, shepherd’s pie, kedgeree and sandwiches.
Albion’s design reflects this pared down, British philosophy, using natural, sturdy and hardwearing materials and including bespoke furniture by our sister-company Benchmark. The design incorporates a set of industrial lights reclaimed from the Rover Longbridge factory and a series of stools with metal seats recast from an original ‘Albion’ tractor seat.
Quirky details such as knitted tea-cosies, flowers in tin jugs, a mish-mash of Sheffield stainless steel cutlery and traditional caff condiments all add to the traditional British feel, whilst the simple cream and grey palate, combined with ketchup-red banquettes, keeps the space contemporary and light.
