City Loft Developments has got the go-ahead to build the tallest building in Wales.

The developer won planning for its 33 storey residential tower from Cardiff Council last week.

The 400 ft tower, part of the £500m Bay Pointe waterfront redevelopment on a peninsula site at Cardiff’s International Sports Village, will house 491 apartments. It is part of a wider masterplan for the area which includes public spaces, community spaces and cafes.

Communal gardens and wind turbines sit on top of the tower.

Tim Bowder-Ridger, a director at Conran & Partners which designed the scheme, said: ‘These are new landmark buildings for the city of Cardiff standing directly opposite the Welsh Assembly across the Bay.’

Bay Pointe is a wholly owned subsidiary company of City Loft Developments.

Conran & Partners is the architect on the scheme
