Merchant Village

Merchant Village is a 700,000 square foot redevelopment of one and a half city blocks of Glasgow's historic Merchant City. The mixed-use scheme, commissioned by Pathfinder PLC, comprised high-quality retail, leisure and office space on the basement, ground and first floors, with stylish urban apartments above, arranged around raised landscaped courtyards.

Detailed proposals for several important listed buildings were included in the detailed planning consent achieved at the end of the two year project, demonstrating Conran & Partners' skill in reconciling the occasionally conflicting demands of commercial development and conservation. After a number of problems with acquisition the site was eventually sold on to Selfridges, but remains undeveloped.
