The ICA is a simple naturally ventilated atrium building providing 3,000m² of office space on three floors. The central space is a welcoming English Oak-Iined hall with a glazed barrel vaulted roof, from which surrounding offices are reached via flanking galleries. The building enjoys the simple pleasure of the best quality natural stone (Pentelikon marble) as external cladding. The marble was specifically selected to maintain its noble character and quality so that the building will weather gracefully. The design demonstrates the virtues of craftsmanship using thoughtful detailed design, composition and proportion within an idiom that reflects the progressive, democratic aspirations of the community.
