Brewery Square

Brewery Square is the centrepiece of Brewery Square Limited's redevelopment of the former Eldridge Pope Brewery in Dorchester – a new mixed-use quarter for the historic market town comprising over 500 new homes, a new railway station and a mix of shops, restaurants and community facilities. A master plan for the 11-acre site was drawn up by CZWG, who are also developing the new-build residential component of the project. Conran & Partners are responsible for the conversion and restoration of the historic brewery buildings and adjacent projects forming the commercial core of the site:

  • The Brew House, converted into a 50-room boutique hotel, incorporating a new-build self contained block of apartments;
  • The Bonded Stores, converted into apartments and conference venue over two levels of retail and restaurant space;
  • The Maltings, converted into an arts centre including a 400-seat theatre;
  • A new-build two-storey parking building with key-worker accommodation above.

Conran & Partners have also been appointed to develop hard-landscaping proposals for the entire site, including Brewery Square with its circular stepped plaza, sunken restaurant terraces and fountains. The first phase of demolition has recently been carried out, and base-build works are scheduled to commence in early summer 2007.
