In 1987, the conversion and restoration of a Grade II-listed former tyre depot on Fulham Road was an early and much acclaimed success for the practice. The redevelopment strategy for Michelin House, with its combination of office space, retail and restaurant, along with the sure handling of existing architectural details alongside contemporary elements, was well in advance of its time. The opening of the building in its new guise inaugurated the transformation of a former backwater into the thriving retail centre of Brompton Cross.
Today, Michelin House remains home to The Conran Shop's flagship outlet. It also houses Bibendum restaurant, consistently ranked among London's top five.
