Plateau

Plateau is located on the 4th floor of Canada Place , opposite No1 Canada Square – the Canary Wharf tower. From this elevated position by day, the full-height glass frontage and part-glazed ceiling of the restaurant and bar afford views across the lawns and sculptures of Canada Square . At night the space is dominated by the glittering backdrop of Canary Wharf ’s high-rise skyline.

The design is inspired by Mid-Century Modernism, interpreted through carefully selected furniture, a pared-down palette of high-quality materials and a clean architectural definition of individual spaces within a flowing sequence. The resulting effect is contemporary, serene and airy.

The Bar and Grill is a relaxed and warm space with a dark timber parquet floor setting the tone. A long, patinated mild steel bar reinforces its dark brown tones, and the modern-classic furniture is upholstered in shades of blue to provide contrast.  Beyond the bar, the restaurant is a bright, yet intimate lounge space, with comfortable amoeboid sofas and a leather-clad bar backed by a temperature-controlled wine wall.

Classic furniture from the 1950s includes Castiglioni Arco floor lamps, Eero Saarinen Tulip chairs and tables with beautiful Italian marble tops, blue upholstered chrome chairs by Harry Bertoia and a simple stylish cutlery range designed by David Mellor in 1957.
