Conran & partners were commissioned to redesign the lobby of Lawrence Graham Solicitors’ headquarters on the Strand . The brief demanded a contemporary yet welcoming reception area, in keeping with the 1960s concrete-clad five-storey building, that would double as a gallery space for a display of contemporary art.

On the main frontage to the Strand, a new entrance was installed in the full-height glazed façade. Floor-to-ceiling sliding screens located behind the windows are used to display artwork and double up as screening for the seating area inside. The walls are painted to match the new buff-coloured Italian limestone flooring, with the exception of the wall to the rear of the main seating area, which is covered in oyster-coloured leather panels. In contrast, the screen between the front reception and new staff entrance and the reception desk is finished in solid American walnut and grey basalt.
