Sited in a 1930s department store in Rekjavik, Rex Bar is designed as a strong and simple space with a glass- clad bar that glows in the dark. Viewed from the street through shop windows, the interior is reflected in a mirror behind the bar, bringing the space to life. The floor is a black granite runway, with timber on either side, flanked by two long oyster-coloured leather sofas. Downstairs is a cigar club, known as the ‘Mafia’ Room, with a mirrored ceiling. One wall is clad in oxblood leather whilst another is made entirely of timber, comprising 300 individual humidors.
