The Conran Shop Nagoya is the first completely new-build Conran Shop – a simple two-storey concrete prism, providing 2,000sqm of sales space. Glazing is limited to maximise the wall area for merchandise displays, and on the main street frontage is protected from glare and excessive heat-gain by super-scaled louvres. A full-height solid plane provides the opportunity for a ‘billboard’ display of the shop’s elegant black and gold logo.

Internally, the shop is designed to be a well-mannered, simple yet flexible backdrop, emphasising the importance the Conran Shop places on merchandise and its imaginative display.  Floors are finished in light-coloured re-constituted stone, walls and ceilings are simple white planes of plaster. The custom-built fixtures are in plywood, glass and white laminate. A café is located on the first floor overlooking the boulevard and park beyond.
