Conran Africa was a pioneering and innovative design-led project celebrating a fusion of authentic South African creative talent with classic Conran design. We collaborated exclusively with the premium Woolworths stores SA to create a collection of products for all rooms in the home.

Taking its inspiration from a rich array of African life, the products in the range were conceived in a sketchbook which was then used to brief the artists and makers. Conran acted in the role of design editor, liaising with the artists and craftsmen to ensure a cohesive range was produced from a wide variety of sources.

With Conran Africa we have utilised the indiginous materials and skills incorporating the creative design input from local South African talent and taken key elements of African culture to celebrate contemporary South African design.

Creating a coordinated range of over 100 products we worked with nearly 20 suppliers throughout Africa, reflecting an ethos that is authentic and local and showing a long-term commitment to South African people—a commitment to the impact that creative design has on economic empowerment.
