Saffron Restaurant forms part of our complete renovation of the Park Hotel in Kolkata. Its dramatic interiors are a conceptual interpretation of the saffron spice within a jute/hessian “sack”.

At the entrance to the restaurant, the lobby is clad in orange glass, with glass tea light displays. The entrance doors are formed of laminated glass containing saffron spice .

In the main restaurant space, the walls and ceiling are clad in hessian wrapped panels forming a soft and natural skin, illuminated by concealed lighting. The banquette seating and loose cover upholstered chairs express the spectrum of bright and rich colours at the saffron spice. The cascading light features within the roof lights are formed of strings of hand blown glass balls varying in colour, tone and size, expressing saffron spice being poured into the space; the deep red seating below representing the intensity of the red spice.
