Rosa dell’Angelo are an Italian family company who have been making Prosciutto di Parma over several generations. Mauro Ziveri, the company owner, approached Conran & Partners in 2003 to develop a scheme for his first Prosciutto Bar in Parma. Here, a minimal and luxurious interior would serve to display Rosa dell’Angelo’s limited but top quality range of foods, including ham, freshly sliced before the customers’ eyes, fresh bread, fruit, cheeses, wines and coffees. The design for the outlet is intended to project a message of quality and tradition, in a contemporary way, to a new market.
Located in a shopping mall in Parma, Italy, Rosa dell’Angelo is a shop and bar selling the best quality Parma ham, bread, fruit, cheese and prosecco. The design uses a simple palette of materials including dark grey tiles, white walls, stainless steel and thick-cut pine – the last referring to the traditional wooden rails used for hanging the prosciutto. Central to the design is a glass fronted laboratorio, in which shanks of curing ham are displayed before being freshly sliced and served from ultra hygienic, stainless steel counters.
The visual identity, also designed by Conran & Partners, was inspired by the original Rosa dell’Angelo branding, refreshed for a more contemporary environment.
