London Before London

Museum of LondonLondon, 2000

Designed by Conran & Partners in association with the Museum of London, The London Before London gallery concentrates on the prehistory of London and the Thames Valley from 450,000BC to AD 50. A 26m-long showcase representing the Thames winds its way through the gallery, constructed of clear and etched

glass, lit with blue light. In the centre of the gallery are eight long oak plinths with inset and projecting showcases, each dealing with a different aspect of the dynamism and adaptability of human communities in the region.
